Protean Design Group, Inc. was responsible for the milling and resurfacing of 6.04 miles of SR 25/US 27, a four-lane divided rural roadway with a depressed grass median and paved shoulders. A primary objective of the project was to add bicycle keyhole lanes throughout the corridor, as many local cycle groups use this area for training. Additional project elements included cross slope correction, signing and pavement markings, guardrail upgrades, minor drainage improvements, signalization, survey, and replacement of loop detection at four intersections. A Community Awareness Plan (CAP) level 3 was required due to the interchange with SR 19 and Florida’s Turnpike exit ramps. Special events, such as the Lakeridge Winery bi-annual grape stomp, were taken into consideration during our temporary traffic control plan (TTCP) schemes.
